Winter 2023 General Elections
THE GENERAL ELECTIONS ARE A CHANCE FOR STUDENTS TO EXERCISE THEIR DEMOCRATIC RIGHT TO VOTE AND DIRECTLY INFLUENCE THE DIRECTION OF THE CSU

Available Offices:

Council:All thirty Council seats are available in the General Elections.

The breakdown of the seats according to faculty is as follows:

Faculty of Arts and Science: 13 seats

Faculty of Fine Arts: 3 seats

Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science: 6 seats

John Molson School of Business: 6 seats

Independent: 2 seats

Executive:

All eight Executive positions are available in the General Elections.

  • Loyola Coordinator
  • Student Life Coordinator

Senate:

All four Senate seats are available in the General Elections.

There is one seat per faculty.

Nomination, Referendum Committee & Affiliation Forms:

Nomination, Referendum Committee and Affiliation Forms will be available on Monday, February 5.

They will be available online on the CSU’s Website (https://www.csu.qc.ca/resources/elections/), and the CSU Elections Website (http://localhost:8888/csu_elections_old/documents/).

They will be available in paper form at the CSU’s reception at both campuses.

Loyola Campus: 4th floor of the Central Building (CC-426)

SGW Campus: 7th floor of the Hall Building (H-711)

Forms must be completed and submitted by February 23, at 18:00.

Duration:

Nomination Phase:

February 5 to February 23 (ending at 18:00)

Campaigning Phase:

March 4 to March 11 (ending at 21:00)

Polling Phase:

March 12 (starting at 9:00) to March 14 (ending at 21:00)

Information Sessions:

The two information sessions will be held in the Large Lounge on the 7th floor of the Hall Building (in front of the CSU’s office) on:

  1. Tuesday, February 6, at 11:45
  2. Wednesday, February 14, at 18:00

The information sessions are held for the purpose of informing candidates and referendum committees of the rules of the elections.

It is the responsibility of candidates and referendum committees to ensure they are properly informed of all rules and regulations. Ignorance is not an excuse for breaking the rules.

The second information session (Feb. 14) will be livestreamed on the CSU’s Instagram page to accommodate candidates that may be unable to attend a session.

Public Debates:

Two debates will be held to provide candidates and referendum committees an opportunity to present themselves to students and share their thoughts on various topics pertaining to the CSU and the University.

Everyone is encouraged to participate in the debate as it is an excellent opportunity for them to present their platform. The debate will be livestreamed on CUTV’s YouTube Channel.

A debate will be held in each campus.

SGW Debate:

Wednesday, March 6, at 18:00 in the Large Lounge on the 7th floor of the Hall Building (in front of the CSU’s office)

Loyola Debate:

Friday, March 8, at 18:00 in SP S110
